What Happens on the Day

A crew of two replaces the gutters and downpipes on most Dublin semis and terraces in a day: the old run comes down, the fascia is checked, new brackets go on at the right fall, the new gutters and downpipes go up, and everything is water-tested before they leave. The old gutters go with them.

On the day

  1. Ladders and a tower go up; scaffolding was up the day before if needed.
  2. The old gutters and downpipes come down.
  3. The fascia is checked. Soft timber is shown to you and priced before it's fixed.
  4. New brackets go on, set to fall to the outlets.
  5. The new gutters clip in, then the downpipes, connected at the bottom.
  6. A water test with a hose along every run.
  7. The old gutters are taken away and the ground cleared.

After

Ask for the guarantee in writing, and a photo of anything they found. Clear the gutters every year or two, more if there are trees: gutter cleaning in Dublin is on our sister site.

Questions people ask

Do I need to be home?

At the start and the end, to agree any extras and see the water test.

How noisy is it?

Not very: drilling the brackets is the loudest part.

What if it rains?

Gutters can go up in light rain. They'll stop in heavy rain or high wind.
